Scotland - Catalonia:


Scotland:

The majority of Scottish people live in Edinburgh and Glasgow. They've got lots of historic building, modern shops and restaurants.
For special occasions some Scottish men wear a kilt rather than trousers. The unusual instrument as the bagpipes. There's the traditions in Scotland.
Sport is very important in Scotland. They practice golf and Highland Games.
Scotland isn't just about traditions, there are some very modern parts, too.
Scottish wisky, a strong spirit made from barley, yecst and water
is the tradition drink.


Catalonia:

The majority of the Catalonia people live in Barcelona. They have many historical buildings, restaurants and hotels.
For especial occacions, or celebrations, some Catalan men take one " barratina Catalana ". They have a traditional dance " la sardana ". The sport mas played in Catalonia is the football, since in Barcelona there is the best team of the world in the year 2009 (FBC).

Unit 9: Healthcare


Most of the time we feel well.
We can play sports, go to work and enjoy our lives. some people have medical insurance but most people can't afford it and rely on the NHS.
The NHS has sent everybody in Britain a Self-Help Guide. It covers things like headaches, coughs and colds, having a temperature or a stomach ache. For many people it could be all they need.

Unit 8: Computers


Computers are now a very important part of life in Britain. Many people love playing computer games. Computers will control the way we live, in "smart homes". Computer are a very important part of most areas of life in Britains - libraries, the police and in school. But they are becoming more important in our homes as well. They can adjust the temperature, close the blinds, act as a burglar alarm and even turn on the oven. There will be television and Internet sockets in every room.

Unit 7: Transport in London



In London are very different kinds of transport. In this chapter to follow a boy. Observation their movements and see the different transports. The first transport is bike, ride by bike at station and gets train. 1.8 million people travel into center of London by train every day. Then he take the Docklands Light Railway. These are computer-controlled. Many people takes Underground. The first Underground when opened in 1863. The last part with her journey he catches the bus. This bus is the famous double-decker buses. Some people use a boats. The car in London is very slowly because there is too much traffic. But the taxis and buses have got a special lanes.

Unit 6: Maritime history

Ships and the sea are very important in Britain. Britain once had the biggest navy in the world. Even today, many ships are used for exporting and importing goods in containers. Some people also travel by ship to go on holiday or for business. The Queen Mary 2 is a very big cruise ship. It sails from Southampton to New York. You can visit a museum, there are ships in the docks. Inside you can find out about life on sailing ships. Young men had to climb the rigging to put up the sails. This was a dangerous job.

Unit 5: Horror stories


People like to be scared. They love reading horror stories and watching horror movies. The first was published by Mary Shelley in 1818 - Frankenstein. Many films have featured Frankenstein over the years. Dracula contra Frankenstein was made by the Spanish director Jesús Franco in 1970. Count Dracula was a vampire created in 1897. The tomb of Dracula is in Highgate Cementery in North London. Dracula is so popular that visitors to London.






Unit 4: The law


The most police station in Britain is New Scotland Yard in London. They're an got a blue light outside to show they are police stations. For most people the police are the face of the law. They can arrest people in the street, but they also give information.
A suspected criminal is begin charged with a crime. Ha must hand over everything he's carrying or has got in his pockets.
Next they take fingerprints to check the person's identity. This machine scans fingerprints electronically and compares them with the national police database. They also take mouth swabs for analysis of DNA.
Suspects can be kept in the cells at the police station for several hours. This suspect spent a whole night in the cells.
